3 years ago I was packing a bag, a bike, numerous shoes and endless lycra for an experience of a lifetime in New Zealand at the Triathlon World Championships. My husband, Rob, didn’t make the team in 2012. Instead, he donned his pom poms and became the leader of my biggest cheersquad, along with my very proud parents.
Chicago World Triathlon Championships 2015
This year I have been practicing my cheerleading moves, as it is Rob’s turn.
I am very proud to announce that in 40 days, he too will be wearing the green and gold and racing for Australia. This time in the ‘windy city’ of Chicago, USA.
How cool is that!
I still can’t believe that at the age of 40+ there are opportunities like these afforded to us. It is not everyday that you are able to swim/bike/run alongside some of the best athletes in the world and get to rub shoulders with them.
Best of luck in Chicago Rob!!!! I’ll be the one with the pom poms!!
We may put our childhood dreams aside as we grow up, but if we have patience, and always keep in touch with that inner child, big dreams can come true.
